| What Part of “Serious” Don't Kids Understand? | |||||||||
| If your child is under age 18, “You got yourself into this mess, now get yourself out of it" is not an option. If it is your child's first offense, most likely there will be a small fine imposed, along with the sentence. [Since your kid's not working, guess who's got to cough up the dough?] There will also be guidelinesthat is conditions your child must follow in order to remain in your custody and out of camp or jail. Now, there is some good news and some bad news. The good news is that your child is still probably able to reside under your roof. If not, your schedule and budget will have to be altered to accommodate weekly or monthly visits to a youth camp or foster facility. You could even be ordered to pay for your child's foster care. Be grateful; be very grateful, if your child is not removed from your home. The bad news is thatif your kid is allowed to stay homefor a couple of months, maybe even a year, you won't have a life. Welcome to the world of Parents on Probation. Before you were court-involved your life was barely manageable. But now it is definitely out of control. But wait, there is more good news. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Life gets easier if you can learn to go with the flow of court mandates and knock them out one at a time, starting the minute you leave the courtroom with your sheet of probation guidelines and conditions. So now you know how serious this is, but does your child? |
