| The codes that comprise the laws of this country spell out what a violation is and all of the consequences. It's not Mission Impossible to read Codes, and even to understand them. Here you may discover your own super powers. National Center for State Courts provides you with a listing of courts and codes, by state. Just go to any state’s court websiteby type of court. States, like Texas require you to know where you’re going before you even get there, but you can also do a search for your state name and the key word “Codes” or “Statutes.” For example, when I Google “California Codes” I'm whizzed to California State Codes and a list of all the state's 29 codes. This one is easy to navigate. While we’re on the subject of the Law, visit your local or area courthouse on line. In Los Angeles, it’s the L.A. County Superior Courts that will give you an overview of court proceedings and jurisdictions. See how easy it is to look up codes? Maybe you should’a gone to law school.
